About our production:

I want to thank all the co-workers and tailors who have gone through a lot of talking and thinking and laughing and cutting and stiching and changing and again changing the samples with me and become life-long friends through good communication and patience. Omeeba clothes are produced by a small Indian family company. I work with them side by side, live with the family and spend work-free time with them daily for several months usually two times a year. That means that I can guarantee that no child-labour has been used in the production of Omeeba clothes and I am happy to take responsibility of providing a fair salary to my precious co-workers from the beautiful results of work they show me each year.

Materials used in Omeeba designs:

Since a couple of years I've been using surplus materials because of the ecological aspect of recycling. The materials that I use are small or big left-over pieces  or rejected pieces (for example wrong shade of colour or thicknes for the company of the original order) of fabric from different big companies.  Before  the production I spend a lot of time running in several markets, passionately going through endless piles of fabric and picking special wooden buttons one by one, collecting the little details, rivets, eyelets, laces, strings, to end up each year with  a bunch of new, esthetically harmonious designs and a new line of collection. And most of all, satisfied customers. That's one reason why I want to encourage you to send me feedback, positive feedback  always brings a big smile on my face, negative feedback helps me developing the Omeeba story :)

I prefer the natural fibers from the synthetic ones, but we have a few designs made with fabrics partly synthetic  also because we found them the best solution for certain practical or esthetical reasons. I have taken a special liking of the bamboo material for its ecologic qualities.

                                                          The Bamboo Story

In the end of 2009 Omeeba proudly presented an earthy clothes collection first time made of the amazing bamboo fabric (including new special multi-way styles). Besides its eco-friendlines, many people choose bamboo because of its absorbency and comfort: it has exceptionally smooth texture against the skin. The bamboo fibers have channels, so they absorb moisture away from the skin, keeping you cool and dry. Luckily, the thermo-control works both way around: The highly breathable fabric keeps you cooler in the summer open air festivals and warmer in the winter.

Bamboo is naturally anti-bacterial so it stays fresher and odor free for longer than most other fabrics.

Bamboo also resists wrinkling and is naturally hypoallergenic.

Why to choose bamboo instead of cotton:

Cotton is one of the most intensely sprayed crops in the world, and cotton pesticides are the greatest crop contributor to volatile organic compounds inthe environment. Cotton requires wide spacing to grow, allowing bare soil tooxidize in the sun, releasing carbon into the atmosphere, allowing rain to wash soil and chemicals into stream, and decreasing soil fertility. Cotton fabrics, including often those made from organic cotton raw material and labeled"organic," commonly go through a series of finishing processes harmful to theenvironment. Bamboo, on the other hand, takes in five times the volume of greenhouse gases as an equivalent stand of timber trees and releases 35% more oxygen. It needs no replanting, pesticides or fertilizers, and its roots retain water in the watershed, sustaining riverbanks and reducing water pollution.
